A cafe aimed at providing a welcoming environment in which children can accompany their parents for a meal out just opened at the end of May in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.
Cafe Zuzu, which is designed for both parents and children, provides all kinds of entertainment, from a theater stage to an event park, all of which are aimed at creating a welcoming atmosphere for all ages.
The rapid daily life of adults usually only allows parents to squeeze some time with their children in parks and shopping malls. But Zuzu embraces the philosophy that children have the right to spend quality time, either with their parents or alone. The owners hope, therefore, that the cafe -- whose first branch was in Istanbul -- can expand all around Turkey, offering a safe environment for children to all its customers.
At Cafe Zuzu, families have the chance to have meals with children in a fun and appealing atmosphere, and the branch that opened in Diyarbakır already promises to be a special meeting place for families.
A new face in the city
Zuzu, founded by Arzu Akpeçe, has certainly offered a new face to the city since its opening in Diyarbakır's Kayapınar district.
Most parents take their children to places adults enjoy, such as restaurants and friend's houses, but Zuzu gives families an option for children to also enjoy the time they spend with the parents.
Arzu Pekçe hopes a place like Zuzu will provide a solution to this problem. As a mother herself, she has been through the same problems. She said it difficult both for herself and her child that they couldn't find a place to have fun while they ate. Therefore, Zuzu -- which also has branches in Denizli, Adana and Edremit -- is designed as a place where moms can leave their children when they go shopping.
Milk bar
At this welcoming establishment, there are events organized for children that are controlled by professional teachers. Children can do crafts, participate in drama games and enjoy intellectually challenging activities. There is also a milk bar inside Zuzu cafes.
Pekçe has placed a great deal of emphasis on the furnishings of the cafe. They are designed by professionals and made with materials that are harmless for children. From the glasses to the decor, nothing in the cafe is made from a carcinogenic material.
All the dishes on Zuzu's menu are homemade.
The cafe hopes to find a niche as the first place in Turkey to be a study center for children, a cafe and a place where children and parents can spend time together.
